5 paragraphs on religions

Christianity
Christianity is a monotheistic religion and it is a abrahamic religion. Christianity is the largest religion in the world with 2.2 billion adherents. Christianity is practiced in Europe, America, and South Africa. Christian beliefs are that Jesus is both human and divine the son of God. Led a virtuous life, he was crucified, died, buried, and resurrected, he ascended into heaven where he rains. The clergy of christianity, Pope is head of the church, then cardinals, then bishops, then priests, deacons.
christianity has many denominations such as Lutheran, Roman Catholic, protestant, and Eastern Orthodox. 

Islam

Islam a monotheistic faith around Muhammad the prophet of Allah. Islam have 1.5 billion adherents making it the second largest religion in the world. People who practice Islam are called muslims. Islam has two denominations- sunnis and shiites. the founder of islam is Muhammad, islams holy book is called the Qur'an. Muslims believe that Muhammad is a messenger of God. 

Hinduism

Hinduism has 1.1 billion adherents making it the third largest religion. People who practice hinduism are called hindus, hinduism is practiced in India and Nepal. there is no one founder of hinduism. Hinduism is a series of intellectual or philosophical point of views. Hinduism is the worlds oldest religion. 

Buddhism

Buddhism is found in Asia, china, Nepal, and Japan. buddhism's founder is Siddhartha Guatama. Buddhism has 500 million to 1.5 billion adherents. denominations Tibetan, Zen, Theravado, and amidas. they practice the four noble truths 1. there is suffering 2. attach to desire is the origin of suffering 3. there is a cessation of suffering 4. the eight fold path will lead to the cessation of suffering.

Judaism 

Judaism is another abrahamic religion it has 14-18 million adherents. if u follow judaism u are called a jew. judaism is found mostly in Israel and USA. founder of judaism is Abraham. the holy book of jews is called the torah. They believe ethical monotheism, God is one. They practice the Ten Commandments given to Abraham from God, and 13 principles of faith.

Religion questions blog

1. there are four Vedic texts the Rig-Veda, Sama-Veda, Yajur-Veda, and Atharva-Veda, the first one the Rig-Veda, is collection of Sanskrit hymns and  ritual and mystical exegesis. the second one Sama-Veda is the veda of hymns and chants consists of 1,549 verses. the third one Yajur-Veda is made for rituals, normally said by priests while the priests reads an individual preforms the ritual normally by the yajna fire. the fourth one is Atharva-Veda it is the knowledge storehouse and has the procedures of everyday life.

2. The practices of indulgence was wrong in the intentions of getting money or goods from someone to tell them that they were sinful and the reconciliation didn't fully take away our sins it seems like early christians started getting greedy and wanted materialistic things instead of focusing on the spiritual part of our faith. Martin Luther objected to the indulgences because taking things from people to better there chance into heaven and not having to stay in purgatory as long was wrong because materialistic things do matter to God what matters in our faith is that we are faithful witnesses of christ.

3. The haji is a pilgrimage to Mecca the holiest of cities for muslims that must be fulfilled atleast once in the a muslims life.

Five Major Religions

Today we are comparing the cia world factbook to adherents.com. According to the via world fact book christianity is the biggest with 31.4 percent. And the second biggest 23.2 Muslim. the third biggest being hindu at 15 percent of the world, and buddhism is 7.1 percent of the world and jewish is 0.2 percent of the worlds population. According to adherents.com christianity is 33 percent of the worlds population, second is Islam with 21 percent, third is hinduism with 14 percent, buddhism is fourth with 6 percent and Judaism is last with 0.22 percent. they Both have pretty close statistics 31.4 percent and 33 percent for christianity. For muslims its 23.2 percent and 21 percent is much of a difference there either also for hinduism 15 and 14 percent. Budhism was 7.1 and 6 percent and judaism was the lowest one in both with 0.2 percent from the cha world Factbook and 0.22 percent from adherents.com. both websites had pretty close statistics meaning both are pretty helpful websites when looking for well known or small religions.

5 major religions 1/3/19

Today in class we learned about the five major religions of the world. at number one was christianity it has around 2.2 billion adherents. It's geographic location is Europe, Americas, and South Africa. The holy book for christians is called the Bible, especially the New Testament. there beliefs are that Jesus is both human and divine, the son of God, Led a virtuous life, he was crucified, died, buried, and resurrected. He ascended into heaven where he reigns. Their clergy is the pope is the head of the church and priests are local authority. the second biggest religion was Islam it has 1.5 billion adherents people that follow this religion are called muslims. denominations are sunnis(75-90%),shiites (10-20%). founder was Muhammed holy book called the koran, Beliefs are monotheistic and Abrahamic. until my next human geo class bye.
